Hunter calls for High Speed Rail to stop in Stockport New!

Cheadle MP and Shadow Liberal Democrat Transport Minister Mark Hunter has challenged Transport Secretary Sadiq Khan in the House of Commons to guarantee that any new High Speed Rail links between London, the North of England and Scotland will include a stop at Stockport as the current West Coast Mainline does.

Hunter demands rethink on rejection of "life-saving" heart pill

Local MP Mark Hunter has blasted NICE, the agency which authorises all prescribed drugs, over its controversial decision to refuse patients a new heart disease pill Dronedarone which costs just £2 a day that would save an estimated 40,000 lives per year, and has demanded a meeting with NICE - the organisation that gives permission for all prescription drugs to be used on the NHS - calling for a major rethink.

Local MP Mark Hunter has co-sponsored a special parliamentary motion congratulating fire-fighters from Greater Manchester Fire Service on their search and rescue efforts in Haiti and extending sympathies to the hundreds of thousands affected by the recent catastrophe.

Hunter warns of deadly carbon monoxide risk

Local MP Mark Hunter has urged Cheadle residents to protect themselves against the deadly threat of Carbon Monoxide poisoning. New research shows that 88% of households in the North West - equating to roughly 35,000 in the Cheadle parliamentary constituency - are putting themselves at risk of poisoning by not having an audible Carbon Monoxide alarm. Carbon Monoxide is a highly poisonous gas that has no colour taste and smell, making it impossible to detect without an alarm.

Mark is calling on local residents to invest in a life-saving alarm - something that around 35,000 local residents are currently without!

Mark commits to safeguard holocaust survivors

Local MP Mark Hunter has pledged his commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day (this Wednesday 27th January) by signing a Book of Commitment in the House of Commons to honour those who perished in the Holocaust. This follows Mark's recent visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau to explore the universal lessons of the Holocaust and its relevance today.

This week local MP Mark Hunter pledged to help bring back Living Seas around our coast. Mr Hunter pledged to help The Wildlife Trusts as they launched a document in the House of Commons entitled Living Seas, which sets out their vision for the future.
