Liberal Democrat run Stockport Council has made full use of its powers to crack down on crime and anti-social behaviour. As leader of the local council Mark Hunter has been at the forefront of action to get yobbish behaviour off the streets.

Mark Hunter said, "The Council's crime prevention policy has been praised by central government - in particular our prolific offenders strategy and our Anti-Social Behaviour Action Team."

Mark Hunter supports using ASBOs where necessary, and other measures to ensure that problems are not simply moved from one place to another.

He will continue to work with the local people and the police to create safer streets.
