Terrorists must not break our spirit - Hunter

8.00.26pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 7th Jul 2005

Commenting on the terrorist attacks on London today, Local Lib Dem Mark Hunter said: "It is difficult to describe the shock that we all felt when we started to see today's event's unfold.

"Our immediate thoughts are with the families of those who have been killed or injured. I know many local residents first thoughts will have been for friends and loved ones who may have been in London at the time.

"The atrocities committed today have touched us all. We must not let terrorism break our spirit however. We must bring the terrorists to justice; they cannot prevail.

"Tribute must be paid to the emergency services. They have performed heroic acts in the most trying of circumstances. We salute them all."

The police have set up a casualty bureau number on 0870 1566344.
