Gatley Eyesore set for Make-over

11.56.12am GMT Thu 24th Nov 2005

Mark has welcomed the council's intervention into the long-running saga of the former Tatton cinema in Gatley.

Last Monday (21st November), Lib Dem councillors agreed to initiate a Compulsory Purchase Order for the site which has been derelict for years. The order means that the council could take control of the land and ensure redevelopment of the site.

Mark said, "The site has been an eyesore for too long so I'm pleased that the council have seized the initiative and hopefully we will see a resolution to the situation as soon as possible."

"Local Gatley councillors, Brian Millard, Pam King and Paul Carter have been working to get this situation resolved for some considerable time now. I'm glad that their efforts look like they will be rewarded."

"Local people deserve better than to have an eyesore like this on their doorsteps for so long."
