Mark opens the Gatley Sport Relief Mile

Local MP Mark Hunter - in a weekend of sporting events for our area - officially opened the Sport Relief Mile in Gatley on Saturday. The event was organised by SPRING (Supporters of Parks and Recreation in Gatley).

Half of the money raised through Sport Relief is spent in the UK to help give those living in disadvantaged and divided communities a better life. The other half helps children and young people in the world's poorest countries faced with the daily reality of extreme poverty, abuse and exploitation.

Mark said, "There was a great turnout for the race on Saturday and i hope they managed to raise a lot of cash for this excellent cause. It was a gruelling run in this weather so i admire the runners all the more."

"The SPRING group have done a marvellous job in organising such a fun event."
