Gatley station is set to benefit from major improvements

Cheadle MP Mark Hunter has welcomed plans by Network Rail to make major improvements to Gatley railway station.

It was revealed last week that Gatley has been included in a project to improve four stations on the Styal line as part of a £12 million package. The scheme will also see Mauldeth Road, Burnage and East Didsbury enjoy improvements.

Mark welcomed the news saying, "These improvements are long overdue. I have spoken to many commuters in our area who say that Gatley has been needing improvements for years. The plans to improve the platforms, shelters, lighting and overall environment of the station sound great and should improve journeys for thousands of local people."

"Local people and i have been lobbying for some considerable time to get improvements and i'm glad that Network Rail have now responded."
