Young People Celebrate Duke of Edinburgh Success5.13.18pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 20th Aug 2007 This Saturday (18th August 2007) Cheadle MP Mark Hunter visited the church funded local youth centre, the Mill, in Bramhall to present awards to young people who had successfully completed parts of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme. The award has three levels; bronze (for those aged 14 and over), silver (15 and over) and gold (16 and over). Young people must complete a number of challenges which include service in the community, skills & hobbies, physical recreation, expeditions, and, for the gold award only, a residential project. Speaking after the event local MP Mark Hunter said; "I was incredibly pleased to be able to support and congratulate these young people. All too often it seems that young people get a bad press, so it is particularly pleasing to have the chance to celebrate this success. They should be very proud. I was also pleased to be supporting The Mill and the impressive work they do with young people. The volunteers here give up their time to help run this programme and I would really like to thank them." Richard Whitwam, Project Supervisor at the Mill added "This is a fantastic achievement. The award recognises months of hard work, dedication and effort." For more info contact the Mill on 440 8022.
