Local MP visited essential Cancer Care centre - Beechwood Cancer Care

Local MP Mark Hunter joined staff at Beechwood Cancer Care Centre in Stockport recently for a 'strawberry tea' with Allen Whittaker, Chief Executive of the charity.

Beechwood is a day centre opened in 1990 to help anyone whose life has been affected by the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The centre offers a range of free support, including one to one talk time, complementary therapies and group sessions to help patients, family members and carers cope with all the problems they may have to face.

Speaking shortly after his visit, Mark said, "The service Beechwood Cancer Care Centre provides is an essential one for our whole area. Cancer is something that can be an extremely heavy burden for people to bear, and almost everyone knows somebody who has been affected by it. To have somewhere to go to meet with other people in the same situation, even just to talk about it, must be a real help to families."

As well as a place to talk with other patients, Beechwood provides many holistic treatments for cancer, aimed at promoting a positive lifestyle. Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Reiki treatments are all on offer at the Centre.
