The 21st Birthday of NAT was marked by the launch of a new report 'HIV: All Grown Up?'. The report analyses the UK's response to HIV in 2008 and sets out the challenges that remain. Mr Hunter joined the NAT at the launch to reaffirm his commitment to ending HIV prejudice and stopping the spread of HIV in the UK.
After the launch Mr Hunter said: "I was proud to join NAT to mark 21 years of tackling HIV in the UK. With over 80,000 people living with HIV, we must do more to raise awareness about HIV in the UK.
"The report 'HIV: All Grown Up?' shows us that not only is HIV still spreading, but that people living with HIV in our community are still tackling stigma and prejudice because the public don't understand the disease. The truth is that the best way to stop new infections is to raise awareness of HIV and encourage testing, and we must therefore continue to press the Government to do all they can to continue this work."
