Mark was Guest of Honour at the official opening of the Dental Centre along with Stockport Mayor Pam King and Bishop of Hulme Dr Stephen Lowe. Mr Hunter was delighted to cut the ribbon on a much needed new dental surgery. Commenting afterwards he said, "The difficultly of finding an NHS dentist in our area is one of the biggest concerns local people come to me with. I've been fighting locally and in Parliament to get more dentists for our area so people can get the treatment they need. One more dental surgery certainly won't solve the problem, but thanks to Dr Mohammed and his colleagues, this is a step in the right direction!"
After unveiling a plaque to commemorate the opening, Mark was shown round by Dr Mohammed, who demonstrated some of the cutting edge technology that will soon be in use at the centre. This included a new system of painless injections, state of the art imaging devices, and a dental scanner which makes enables the centre to make perfectly fitting crowns on the spot in a matter of minutes.
"The technology that Dr Mohammed has at his disposal here is impressive - and I know it'll make going to the dentist much less daunting for his patients. One more surgery is not enough however - we should all have access to an NHS dentist in facilities as good as these, and I'll continue to stand up for patients in our area who are struggling to find a dentist who will take them on."
