Local MP visits booming Heald Green Business Club6.08.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 17th Sep 2009
Last week local MP Mark Hunter attended a breakfast meeting with Heald Green Business Club to listen to and discuss the interests and concerns of its members. After meeting representatives from the group earlier this summer, he was delighted to accept a formal invitation to meet the group as a whole. The group represents and promotes 23 different businesses with wide ranging backgrounds and meets weekly on Wednesdays at 7:45am at Café Unity on Finney Lane. Members are able to discuss potential opportunities with each other in an informal but purposeful environment and engage in sharing information. The group welcomes new businesses as well as more established ones, and creates a joint voice for business in Heald Green as a whole. Local business 'Animals In Tuition' brought along a few unusual guests to the breakfast meeting - including a Royal Python named 'Mr Tickles'. This enterprise travels to schools, science fairs and community events to offer children the chance to learn about and interact with exotic species.
Commenting after the meeting Mr Hunter said, "After meeting the founder of Heald Green Business Club at the last two Heald Green Festivals, I was eager to get together with the group as a whole and was pleased to be invited along to this meeting. As a local MP it is crucial that I am aware and sensitive to the concerns of local business and that these concerns are articulated in Parliament. "It turned out to be an extremely worthwhile visit, and the group struck me as a great example of a successful networking operation. With its thriving membership and regular meetings, Heald Green Business Club can only go from strength to strength, and I would encourage any other local businessmen and women to get involved."
